Details on Middle School Cheer

We're excited to launch our FALL Middle School Cheer Program for students in 6th-8th grade for the 26/27 school year!

​

Components of the program:

Sideline Cheer

  • Cheer at North Marion MS football games

  • Learn cheers, motions, and game-day routine

  • Build confidence and leadership skills

Competition Cheer

  • Includes all sideline cheer activities

  • Compete at approximately 3 - 4 Saturday competitions

  • Game-Day routine

Note: Competition athletes must also participate in sideline cheer.

Season Information

 

Registration: June 15 - July 20

Season: August 24 - Mid-November

​

*No winter/basketball middle school cheer will be offered this year*

​

Practices

Preseason Week: August 24-28

  • Monday-Friday

  • Approximately 2 hours each evening

Regular Season: Sept- Nov

  • 2 practices per week

  • Tentatively Tuesday & Thursday

  • Approximately 5:30-7:00 PM

 

Games & Competitions

  • Football games typically held on Wednesdays

  • Approximately 2-3 Saturday competitions during October and November- schedule TBD

 

Multi-Sport Athletes Welcome

We will do our best to work with athletes who participate in both cheer and another fall sport.

 

Costs & Fundraising

Estimated Season Cost: $325

*Returning athletes who already have a uniform may have lower costs.

New required items include:

  • Green and white poms

  • Cheer bow

  • Long-sleeve undershirt

  • Team jacket/outerwear

 

Fundraising opportunities will be available, including:

  • Fill the Pom Fundraiser (July)

  • Cookie Dough Fundraiser (Fall with the K-5 programs)​

Details on Cheer (K-5)

Our elementary cheer program introduces athletes to cheerleading in a fun, supportive environment while building confidence, teamwork, and school spirit.

 

Athletes will cheer at youth basketball games while learning age-appropriate motions, cheers, routines, and performance skills.

Team Options

 

Tiny Cheer (K-1)

Perfect for our youngest cheerleaders as they learn the fundamentals of cheer.

  • Season runs January-March

  • Practices approximately 2 days per week for 45 minutes

  • Focus on basic motions, cheers, teamwork, and confidence-building

 

Mini Cheer (2-3)

Athletes continue developing their cheer skills while learning more advanced routines and performance techniques.

  • Season runs January-March

  • Practices approximately 2 days per week for 1 hour

  • Focus on skill development, teamwork, and game-day performance

 

Youth Cheer (4-5)

Designed to prepare athletes for future middle school cheer opportunities while continuing to build leadership and confidence.

  • Season runs January-March

  • Practices approximately 2 days per week for 1 hour

  • Focus on advanced motions, routines, leadership, and performance skills

Registration

Registration typically runs from September- early October

 

Team Placement

Team sizes may be capped based on registration numbers and available coaches. If teams reach capacity, athletes may be placed on a waitlist.

Games & Performances

Athletes will cheer at NMYA basketball games on Saturdays, there may be some mid-week games depending on basketball schedules

​

Costs 

  • Tiny (K-1): $150-200

  • Mini (2-3): $150-200

  • Youth (4-5): $200-250

​

Uniform Information

  • Uniform sizing and ordering information will be provided after registration closes- each cheerleader owns their own uniform.

  • Returning athletes may have opportunities to reuse eligible uniform pieces, helping reduce overall season costs.

  • Additional spirit wear and optional items may also be available throughout the season.

  • All teams from the 25-26 season will have the same uniforms for the 26-27 season

NMYA offers optional fundraising opportunities to help offset cheer expenses, including:
